Bella’s Lullaby - Cover
March 15th, 2026
Who knew all you needed to do to make new friends was to watch five vampire romance movies in a week? This song stood out to me when watching Twilight for the first time a few weeks ago, when Edward is playing the song in-universe the same time the viewer hears it. I really loved watching all of those movies, and now I have a nice cool cover of that song I really liked.
Now, this is the nicer version, but if you want that nick charm you’ve come to love from the other nonsense found here, this video link has the Monkey Version on YouTube.
Prologue - La Tale Cover
February 16th, 2026
This is a cover of a song from this game called La Tale. It’s a South Korean MMO that’s almost 20 years old, and I’ve also never played it. I got this song in my YouTube recommended playlist, and it is so good that I wanted to cover it myself, like I often do for songs I like but yet lack the skill to understand why. I always hope that making it will help me learn just by touch.
All Your Friend is Here
February 8th, 2026
I made this while thinking about my birthday coming up. It’s weird to find that I’m not really excited about it this year… but it’s also been a weird year. The title is a reference to a song lyric: “Send birthday invites, and now all your friend is here,” so the song goes. It kinda loses its luster to just explain the bit in this description, but I barely talk about this stuff with any of my friends anyway so I’m pretty sure only one of them would even know what I’m referencing.
FOREVER
January 23rd, 2026
If I were to pick a favorite song of the month, it’s gonna be this one. The layers were crafted one by one, and I had to simplify parts to make room for other instruments to get their “moment” because, apparently, saxophone wants to be center stage always?? Sit down sax, give us a chance! Sometimes I struggle with a satisfying conclusion for my songs, but this one just felt right. It felt like placing the last piece in a jigsaw puzzle, and feeling it click into place. So satisfying. Sorry about the heavy-handed puzzle metaphor, I finished a puzzle today instead of watching the Super Bowl.
Star - Undertale Cover
January 21-22nd, 2026
Star is an unused song from Undertale that you can find in the game files. Somehow in all the years I’d been a fan, I had never heard this song until a few weeks ago. It uses the Star Fox soundfont, which is probably where the name comes from. In my version, I sought out this soundfont, and I also found some voice lines there. If you read about my last song, you’ll know I’m a real sucker for stupid voice lines injected into my music. They also find their way into covers I do, now that I’m thinking about it. The first time this happened was a recreation of Ice Cap Zone from Sonic 3, but with the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga voice lines.
Monkey Business
January 16th, 2026
This one was just fun. I have a real habit of adding the Donkey Kong Country monkey sound effects to my music. This is the first time I really focused on the drums being consistent with the rest of the instruments. Drums and the bass is not usually my “jumping off” point, but they are intrinsically tied to the identity of this song. Sometimes I have a fever and the only prescription is more monkey sound effects, so the final section really cures me of it.
COMATOSE
January 4th, 2026
In the first 4 days of the year I made 3 really solid songs, and they’re kind of thematically tied to each other in that all-caps thing. This song is named COMATOSE because of the last minute of the song. Perhaps the main section of the song serves as the dream inside the subject’s mind. These songs were named in ways that begs to be interpreted. Naming a song is itself art sometimes. Taking an existing song and stamping it with a name, makes you automatically search for the meaning inside the music itself.
RUMINATE
January 2nd, 2026
RUMINATE follows the all-caps theme I accidentally started the year with, and like the previous song, it was also sourced from the song before it. This song to me represents the idea of wandering around an idea/place knowing there’s more to explore, but ultimately failing to complete the thought. I also love love love automating a bitcrusher on the drums! So staticky! Is staticky a word??
KEY
January 1st, 2026
KEY is my first song of the year! It really reminds me of a song from the game Firewatch, but I can’t place which song! This song began from the seed of a song I made at the end of last year, which is kind of thematic for ringing in the new year :P Also, the name KEY came before I actually did a key change in the song, and I didn’t catch it until after the song was finished!
2025
some of the hits
…okay it’s actually a LOT of the hits
What’s in Vermont
December 28th, 2025
Last song I made in 2025! Its title comes from a conversation I was looking to have with a friend of mine who wants to move there.
“What’s in Vermont?”
I guess I’ll have to find out some time because as things are moving, pretty soon my friend will be What’s in Vermont. This song, in a sense, is for her. Hopefully the vibes up there are matched by what I’ve made here.
Synthetique
December 26th, 2025
This song started out on my piano, which I was just playing for fun and was like, “Oh dang! we gotta get this guy in the studio!”
(The studio in question is 7 feet away and is literally just my PC)
it would feel like this - girl in red Cover
November 11th, 2025
Weird thing about setting a pattern of capitalizing titles of songs for your music website - all of the correct punctuation in this case is lowercase! Except for the “cover” part. Anyway, elephant in the room, I’m putting this cover on here because it’s probably the most unexpectable song for me to have covered, and I think that’s pretty funny. By total coincidence, I was playing Hollow Knight: Silksong when I first heard the song I covered here, which is a game where you in fact play as a girl in red. What a world we live in.
Time Crime
October 4th, 2025
I always love the songs I make that have big piano parts, and while this one is tucked away in the middle of the song, and is distorted in parts, I think it works with what’s around it. What is a time crime, you ask? I’d ask the time government, I’m no expert, you know. I certainly haven’t done any time-travel based crimes or REGULAR crimes while we’re at it.
(This is my new persona that I’m building, I call him “Definitely-did-all-those-crimes Nick”)
Catwalks
September 4th, 2025
Isn’t it kind of silly that those rickety, loud metal walkways are called catwalks? I feel like cats are super quiet when they walk around, and at first glance, I don’t think they’re made of metal, either. I’m starting to notice I’m not using these song description boxes to actually describe the songs anymore. It’s just a microblog about what present-day me has to say about slightly related topics. I like the factory, industry vibe this one has, even if still, not much cat stuff going on here.
forgive (demo)
August 24th, 2025
This is a loop I made with a music box instrument, that I later made into a full song. I think the demo is cool, and the full song sounds better in this YouTube video I made.
VOLATILE
August 19th, 2025
This song has a kind of “oh no guys the reactor is melting down we gotta get out of here” kind of urgency, and I think that is cool and not a metaphor for anybody’s state of being. I like the sounds panning left and right (wear headphones if you can)
PEZ
August 10th, 2025
This song is based off of the game FEZ, and so I just named it after another word that is not fez but sure looks like it. Pez, what a silly candy idea. Also I am noticing these descriptions are getting shorter the longer I do this. (I've been adding these for an hour.)
foxman 2
August 8th, 2025
Ok I know above this I said I wasn’t that consistent each month with making a bunch of songs, but that’s not really the case until before July, so my bad, everybody.
This song was named in a discord conversation where I asked someone to name a song off the cuff with no prior listening and they called it “foxman”, which I then made a second version of. That’s how we got here.
Catnap
July 27th, 2025
Now this gives me actual cat vibes, unlike catwalks. Little fella is having the best little cat dream, hopefully. I’m realizing all the songs on here are covered in way more (sometimes way less) detail in the YouTube compilations I have on my channel, so it feels so repetitive as I basically write on the same topics for the second time. So if for some reason my witty-ish writing is what you’re really here for, (or you’re in an area you just can’t listen to the audio in), consider hopping over there for more.
